Below are the up-to-date CE requirements by State:

Alaska: Electrical Administrators are required to take 8 hrs of continuing education per category type every two years, based on the current state adopted codes. Electrical Journeyman are required to take 16 hours of continuing education every two years, of which at least eight hours must be based on the current codes and eight hours may be “industry related.”

Reciprocity: Alaska offers reciprocity with the following states: Colorado, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. For a fee of $20 some courses can be reciprocated. This depends on the course, the state you are receiving credit for, and the state you would like to reciprocate credit to.

New Mexico: Journeyman Electrician Certificates of Competence Renewal Information:
In New Mexico, journeymen must complete at least sixteen (16) hours of continuing education every three-years. This requirement serves to ensure regular training on the National Electrical Code, a code that is updated every three years. Eight (8) hours of the required training is on code change instructions and eight (8) hours is on other industry-related instruction.

Texas:  Texas State CE Requirements Important Information About Continuing Education Requirements for the Following Electrician License Types; Master Electrician, Journeyman Electrician, Master Sign Electrician, Journeyman Sign Electrician, Maintenance Electrician, Residential Electrician:

To renew the above electrician licenses, Title 8, Occupations Code, Chapter 1305, Section 168 requires the completion of 4 hours of TDLR-approved continuing education (CE) courses during the term of the current license. These courses must address the National Electric Code, as adopted under Section 1305.101, safety (NFPA 70E), and state law and rules that regulate the conduct of license holders under Chapter 1305 of the Texas Occupations code. Courses may be delivered in many different formats including the Internet and traditional classroom. Note: Apprentice Electricians, Electrical Contractors, and Electrical Sign Contractors are not required to have continuing education for their license renewals. Reciprocity: Wisconsin does not offer reciprocity.

Q: How long do I have to complete each course?

A: Courses do not have time restriction; you can log out at the end of a section and when you log back in, all your information will be saved.

Q: How are the credits reported to the TDLR?

A: Our Customer Service department receives an email notification when you complete the course; we then have 7 days to electronically report your credits to the TDLR. You do not need to send them your certificate; they verify the credits with us.
